Your Luby's coupon is No good unless you arrive at the "right time". What is the right time? Good luck.

While my local Luby's has an afternoon discounted Lou Ann, and I do appreciate that, I received a coupon to get one meal half price.

Received coupon via email to enjoy "Buy one and get one Lou Ann half price".

I have had issues with this Luby's location in the past with coupons and the lack of english language skills, so I had my reservations.

I readily admit I hate coupons. More hassles and embarrassment than they are worth.

My wife and I thought we would go mid afternoon to avoid the crowd and allow for any "new" confusion from a coupon. We have all had that happen, right? The check-out lady is not aware of the newest coupon and has to call the manager to get a procedure to ring it up. The problem at this location is more times than not the person at the register can say the numbers 22.12 total, but does not have a reasonable command of the english language to understand the situation. Nor can they explain what we need to do. So we are in the stand off, leaving me with the very uncomfortable position of stating over and over, "Charge me the full price and let me go".

To defend the check out lady, she DOES NOT have the ability or permission to simply send the customer on through and make a new friend. I cleared the line and immediately ask for the manager and explained how uncomfortable I was with this situation and specifically the lack of english skills of the employee. He sincerely agreed with the check out lady, he has no authority to approve the coupon because of a computer pricing snafu. He too cannot offer to "comp" the ticket or anything. The only solution is to come back at odd hours to use the coupon when the computer system will accept it. While I have already paid full price. Got me!

No where (this time or before) is it stated that I need to appear at a specific hour to use the coupon.

Just to be honest, I do not use coupons, I do not choose to use them, I will pay full price and will not complain. That is what I ask (over and over) to happen here, "just let me pay and get out of this line so the line can proceed and I can eat, as that is what I came to do".

Luby's make a change. Hire some people that:

1. Has the basic skills of english

2. Is trustworthy and intelligent enough and can see that comping the customer (or just state clearly there is a mishap and here is what you need to do) without a scene that can save thousands of dollars in future sales.

3. Lastly, that person is the point person for the entire corporation. They should reflect that.

I do not blame the lady on the register. This is a corporate issue. You have the marketing machine in gear and the actual execution of this or any other promotion or customer care policy is NON-existent.

I ended up paying full price. You got four extra dollars from me and lost thousands from me in the future. How valuable was your coupon? How good was it at building customer relations?

Im all about promoting, reaching the consumer in the home, on a personal level, anywhere. In your case you got close enough to me to make me feel like my neighbor just got away with something and stuck it in my face to prove it.

I just want something to eat in a pleasant environment. that did not occur.

Monetary Loss: $4.

Location: Fort Worth, Texas
